Raphael Zingg is a Ph.D. student at the Center for Law & Economics and a research assistant to Prof. Stefan Bechtold. Prior to joining the ETH, he was a Junior Associate in the Lenz & Staehelin Intellectual Property and M&A practice group. He graduated with a Master and Bachelor in Swiss Law from the Universities of Zurich and Fribourg and with a Licence in French Law from Université Panthéon-Assas, Paris II.
His research interests lie at the interface between law and science. Currently, his Ph.D. focuses on Empirical Patent Litigation, especially on the technology-specificity of patent protection at the dawn of the Unified Patent Court. In addition to the aforementioned, he pursues training in Molecular Bioengineering at ETH Zurich, specializing on Immunology and Gene-Engineering in the biomedical area, and on Synthetic Biology and Tissue Engineering in the biotechnological area.
